The Local News Channel contains news that pertains to your local community. This includes local news, school news, information about local organizations, community event announcements, and specific interest information.

If you would like to customize the Local News Channel, please review the following information. If you wish to submit announcements or other articles for the Local News Channel, please contact your Internet Service Provider.

Note: Some ISPs do not provide Local News; Local News may not be available on your homepage.

Navigating Local News
Local news articles are organized based on region, category, and organization.

• Region - the town, county, or other geographical region that the article pertains to
• Category - the topic that the article is about
• Organization - the local organization that submitted the article

• Article - Click on the article title to view an article in Local News.
• Organization - Obtain more information about the organization by clicking on the organization's name.
• Online Directory - View the entire list of organizations in the selected community by clicking on the community name.
• More Stories - Click on the More Stories Link to view the entire list of available articles from that organization.

Viewing All Local Information
If you want to view All Local News, you may do so via the Browse All Local News Section. To access Browse All Local News either:

1)  Click the Browse All Local News Link, located at the top of the My Local News Channel.   OR

2)  Click News, Local, and then Browse All Local News from the Main Menu.

Choose the region and category of information that you want to view. For example, to view Events & Happenings for Mason County, choose Mason County from the Region Drop Down Box and Events & Happenings from the category navigation at the left-hand side of the screen.

• Article Title - View an article by clicking on the article title.
• Organization Name - View more information about an organization by clicking on the organization name.
• Organization List - Click on the link to display all organizations listed within the selected region.

Personalizing My Local News
You can personalize your My Local News Channel to display the local news that is most important to you. To access My Local News, click News and Local from the Main Menu.

1.  Add the My Local News Channel to My Home.
2.  Click the arrow icon and select the Customize Local News option.
3.  Proceed to the appropriate instructions below.

Selecting All Articles for a Region

• Once you click the "Customize" Link, you will be presented with a list of regions. If you wish to see news from all categories and organizations for a particular region, check the "Select All News" Box next to that region. In the example below, I have placed a check next to the region, "Beardstown." News from all categories and organizations for the region, "Beardstown" will be displayed in My Local News. *Selecting many options is likely to increase the amount of time it takes to load My Local News.*
• Once you have made your selection(s), click the “Save My Settings” Link.

• If you wish to select specific categories within a particular region, click the “Select Categories for...” Button for the region.
• You will be presented with the Categories Page. If you wish to select news from all organizations for a particular category, check the “Select All News” Box next to the category. In the example below, I clicked the "Select Categories for Petersburg" Button.  I then checked the "Select All News" Box for the category, "Announcements."  All Announcements for the region of Petersburg will be displayed in My Local News. *Selecting many options is likely to increase the amount of time it takes to load your homepage.*
• Once you have made your selection(s), click the “Save My Settings” Link.

Selecting All Articles for an Organization

• If you wish to select specific organizations for a particular category, click the “Select Organizations for ...” Button for the category.
• You will be presented with the Organizations Page. If you wish to select news from an organization, check the “Select All News” Box next to the organization.
• Once you have made your selection(s), click the “Save My Settings” Link.

Viewing My Selections
You can view a list of the regions, categories, and organizations you selected via the “My Selections” Box located at the right-hand side of the Customize Screen.

You can expand or minimize the list by clicking on the corresponding + and - signs next to the region and category.
 

Managing Articles
If you are a Content Author or Editor, you can login to create articles by clicking the Manage Articles Link. Please refer to the Version 3.0 Author/Editor User Guide provided by your Internet Service Provider for details on creating and editing articles.
